advent gIVING tREE
There are always people in need all through the year, but Christmas is extra special. The Advent Giving Tree offers love and assistance to our retired Sisters of Presentation, the Maple Leaf elderly and families in our parish who need Christmas assistance.
The tree is put out the first two weeks of Advent and is located near the baptismal font. Gift tags have labels to indicate if the gifts are for a boy or girl, elderly or sister and a second label with a few gift item suggestions. No names are ever listed in order to ensure confidentiality.
Parishioners take a tag, shop for 'At Least ONE' gift OR buy more. Then wrap the gift with the gift tag to the OUTSIDE of the gift.
Gifts must be in the church on the date indicated on the back of the tag.
Gift Tag Log Book
Each year, families take a giving tree tag and as life gets busy, the tag gets ruined or lost. That leads to a frantic phone call about what to do next. So, this year, though many of you prefer to be anonymous when taking a tag, we came up with a solution to help us all!
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in trying out this simple tracking system.
How the Log Book Works
When you go to the Giving Tree for a tag, the Log Book will be on the side altar by the tree. Simply write your name, email or cell, then check the proper column or write the child tag code in the log book. We've changed the appearance of the tags this year to help you find the code easily.
The week before the gifts are due, we will send two reminders - one at the beginning of the week and one the day before the due date. We will include any additional instructions as well. That's it!
Forgot to use the Log Book?
Then please take a picture of your tag and before you leave the church, email the picture to firstname.lastname@example.org or
call our office at 624-1509.
Thank you for your love, generosity and kindness!
Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas!
